Meet Maria
Our mission at Roula’s Kids is to help children and their families grieving a death find support and connection in the Hudson Valley through age appropriate grief groups with others who are going through something similar. Roula’s Kids, named for my mother who died when I was 20, provides a safe space where we validate and normalize the many feelings children can experience in their grief and helps them find ways to cope. Children receive age-appropriate support to help them understand more about death, cope with all they’ve lost, remember their person, and learn how to live a life that honors the person who died.
We know what grief can do to a family
Grief can be a lonely process, especially for children who do not possess a vocabulary that can help them describe all the ways the death of someone is affecting them. That is why Roula’s Kids is such an important place. Children will receive age-appropriate support to help them understand the loss, cope with the loss, remember their person, and learn how to live a life that honors their person.
We teach children to manage their grief.
We believe that children can and should be allowed to be children, even while dealing with a painful loss. Roula’s Kids teaches children to manage their grief, which, if left unaddressed, can affect self-esteem, and lead to a variety of mental health struggles such as anxiety or depression. We are here to help.
